— Update —

A precautionary Boil Water Notice was issued for Grindrod Tuesday, April 8.

Greater Vernon Water said the construction at the Grindrod Water Utility Monday was completed and the system had returned to normal operations, though the notice was still in effect until sample testing confirmed the water was safe to consume.

Until then, people were advised to bring their tap water to a roiling boil for a full minute before drinking, using to make or prepare food or drink, and brushing their teeth.

People may experience cloudiness in their water and/or air in their taps, in those cases they should run the cold taps untilt he water turns clear. GVW recommended doing this process with an outdoor tap.

People supplied by the Grindrod Water Utility will experience a water outage Monday.

The Regional District of North Okanagan said planned construction work on April 7 would interrupt water service between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Affected customers were advised to store a short-term supply of water for cooking and toilet before the work begins.

As a result of the work, people in the affected area would be under a Precautionary Boil Water Notice.

Affected customers were advised that once water service is restored it could have increased turbidity, and were advised to bring water to a roiling boil for a full minute before drinking, using to make or prepare food and drink, and brushing teeth.

People may experience air in their pipes or discoloured water following the work. In those cases, people should run a cold tap until the water turns clear. It was advised that an outside tap be used for this process.
