The province will host a series of budget consultations in the summer, including one in Vernon.

The Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services will host public consultations on the next provincial budget and make recommendations based on the feedback collected on key priorities.

As part of those consultations, Vernon residents will be asked to participate and provide their input at an in-person meeting.

The exact date for that session was not immediately known, with the province saying it would take place in June of 2025.

People wishing to speak with the committee were asked to fill in an online request form by 2 p.m. Friday, April 11.

The opportunity to provide written input to the committee will be available starting in June.

Other communities asked to participate in feedback sessions include Penticton, Victoria, Vancouver, Surrey, Courtenay, Terrace, Quesnel, Fort St. John, Nelson and Cranbrook.

Harwinder Sandhu, MLA for Vernon-Lumby, was one of the members named to the committee, which includes both government and opposition MLAs.
