Lake Country RCMP are investigating potential criminal charges after a truck was driven across the trails causing damage to the new Lake Country Bike park earlier this week.

Based on their investigation, police said an uninsured 2014 Dodge truck had gained access to the trails at 8865 Okanagan Center Rd West and was driving on the trails when the bank slipped. The truck slid down toward the water treatment plant where it came to a stop on the hill. The driver ran off.

Mounties said if the driver can’t be identified, the registered owner will be issued violation tickets.

In a media release, RCMP Lake Country Media Relations Officer Cpl. Ryder Birtwistle said the incident is exceptionally disappointing.

“The driver of this truck made the conscious decision to try and destroy a brand new bike park which would have been a massive loss to the community,” he said.
