A precautionary Water Quality Advisory was issued for a BX neighbourhood Wednesday.

Greater Vernon Water issued the advisory for the affected area that includes Barker Rd. and parts of Silver Star Rd. after a water main break on March 26 led to increased turbidity and a loss of water pressure in the neighbourhood.

The break was repaired Wednesday afternoon, and the advisory was issued as the water needed to be tested to ensure it was safe to drink.

In the meantime, GVW advised affected residents to roiling boil their water for a full minute before drinking; using to make or prepare food or drink, including ice and baby formula; and brushing their teeth.

People may experience discoloured water or air in their pipes. In those cases, people should run their cold water until it turns clear. GVW recommended people do this process using an outdoor tap.
