A man on trial in an assault with a weapon case has plead guilty.

In Vernon Provincial Court on Monday, Dale Babiy plead guilty to one count of assault with a weapon and two counts of uttering threats.

The B.C. Prosecution Service said the matter was adjourned until March 31, when Babiy will be back in court to schedule a sentencing hearing.

Babiy, who remained in custody, was arrested on warrants related to the case in December of 2024.

During that arrest, Babiy allegedly attempted to flee from police in a stolen vehicle, which police stopped using a spike strip. He then attempted to flee on foot, but was later apprehended and arrested.

Babiy was charged with flight from police, dangerous driving, driving while prohibited, and possession of stolen property stemming from that arrest.

An arraignment hearing in that case will be held at Vernon Provincial Court on March 27.
