Environment Canada is warning that snow could fall on the highways connecting the Interior and the coast.

The weather agency issued a special weather statement, saying that a pacific frontal system moving into the area could bring “a significant amount of snow accumulation” in the high elevation passes of the Coquihalla between Merritt and Hope, and on Highway 3’s Allison Pass between Princeton and Hope.

The system was expected to hit the mountains Thursday evening, resulting in snowfall overnight and through Friday, March 21.

Travellers were advised to plan for changing conditions in the mountains, check DriveBC before getting behind the wheel, and drive to conditions.
