Exciting News for Progressive Lens Wearers
Struggling with your progressives? You’re not alone. It’s not an uncommon experience among progressive lens wearers. Thankfully, a new technology is transforming the experience, and IRIS Optometry & Opticians in Vernon is the first clinic in Canada that has it.
Traditional progressive lenses were designed to replace bifocals and trifocals and offer a seamless transition between distance, intermediate, and near vision. This hasn’t been the experience for many wearers. Tilting your head to find the reading zone, dealing with a swimming effect on the sides, or juggling multiple pairs of glasses can be frustrating and uncomfortable.
Some patients resort to using multiple pairs of glasses – one for everyday use, another for computer work, and yet another for reading. Apogee progressives are changing all that.
Dr. Mark Langer from IRIS says that what makes Apogee progressive lenses so revolutionary is that they’re designed using dynamic measurements instead of static ones. Traditionally, optometrists measure a patient’s eye position while they’re sitting still, looking straight ahead. “But that’s not real life,” Dr. Langer explained. “No one is sitting there just like that all day long looking straight ahead.”
