Vernon rolls out new interactive mapping tool to track developments

The City of Vernon has launched a new tool to give the public a chance to learn about future and ongoing developments.

The interactive Current Development Mapping Tool allows people to view active development applications, including Official Community Plan (OCP) amendments, subdivisions, rezoning, and development permits.

The new tool, developed in house using funds from Vernon’s Development Application Process Review Budget, provides users with up-to-date information for ongoing development projects.

People can search by location and find applicant submissions, including drawings, and track application status updates for developments in their neighbourhoods and beyond.

“This tool provides a simple way for residents to stay informed about development in their area,” Terry Barton, Vernon’s Director of Planning and Community Services, said.

“It enhances transparency and ensures the community has the information needed about ongoing projects.”

The city stated the Current Development Mapping Tool was part of Vernon’s efforts to improve communication, streamline the development process, and increase public awareness of community growth.
