Prescribed burn in the Okanagan Landing to happen this month

A wildfire mitigation project in the Okanagan Landing area will take place in mid-March.

The B.C. Wildfire Service stated it would be supporting Vernon Fire Rescue Services (VFRS) in conducting a prescribed burn in the area of Longacre Drive and Apollo Road as early as March 18, weather and conditions permitting.

The BCWS stated the intent of prescribed burn is to reduce wildfire risk by managing fuels, as well as provide a cross training opportunity between the Vernon Fire Zone and VFRS.
