A respiratory infection outbreak was declared at a long term care facility in Vernon Saturday.

Interior Health identified the respiratory sycytial virus (RSV) outbreak at the Gateby Care Centre March 1.

The outbreak was reportedly affecting the entire facility.

IH stated measures were in place to limit further transmission of the illness, including enhanced cleaning, increased use of personal protective equipment, rescheduling non-urgent medical appointments, and cancelling outings and activities.

The respiratory infection outbreak affecting the entire Noric House in Vernon was also still in effect as of Tuesday, March 4. The health authority had not disclosed what illness was circulating in that long term care facility.
