Yard Waste Disposal

Spallumcheen’s spring chipping program to begin at the end of March

Feb 28, 2025 | 2:53 PM

People wishing to dispose of ward waste will have their chance in the spring.

The Township of Spallumcheen will send its Public Works Department property to property for people to chip their prunings and tree branches.

The crew will start work at the Stepping Stones subdivision on March 31 and April 1. Chipping will then be provided for people in the Udy subdivision on April 1 and 2, and then at the McLeod subdivision on the 3rd and 4th.

The township asked residents to stack material they wish to dispose of adjacent to the roadway with the butt ends facing the street. Piles of material must not exceed three metres in length, three metres in width, and 1.5 metres in height.

It noted that materials must not be more than four inches in diameter, not include any nails or other metal components, and not be tied with wire. Stumps and waste contaminated with dirt will not be accepted.

The crews will spend a maximum of 20 minutes per property chipping material, with the township stating any material left behind could be disposed of at the landfill.

Anyone who wants to keep the chips from their materials were asked to contact the Township Office ahead of time at 250-546-3013.
