Minimum Wage Rates

B.C.’s minimum wage to increase in the summer

Feb 14, 2025 | 11:32 AM

Minimum wage workers in British Columbia will see their paychecks increase in the summer.

Effective June 1, 2025, the province’s minimum wage will increase to $17.85 per hour.

The change will mark a 2.6 per cent increase from the current wage of $17.40, which will align with inflation.

“Minimum wage earners are vulnerable to jumps in the price of groceries, rent and gas,” said Minister of Labour, Jennifer Whiteside.

“That’s why we took action last year to ensure the minimum wage keeps up with the cost of living so workers don’t fall further behind.”

Minimum wage rates for residential caretakers, live-in-home-support workers, camp leaders, and app-based ride-hailing and delivery service workers will also see their pay increase by 2.6 per cent on June 1.

The same increase will be applied to minimum piece rates for 15 hand-harvested crops on Dec. 31, 2025.
