Winter Carnival Parade to disrupt traffic Saturday

Motorists will need to adjust their travel plans as the Vernon Winter Carnival parade will disrupt a major artery.

The 64th Annual Vernon Winter Carnival Parade will run south along 27th Street between 48th and 30th Avenues Saturday, Feb. 8.

The City of Vernon said there will be road closures and parking restrictions taking effect at 8 a.m. Saturday, and those will remain in place until approximately 2 p.m.

The parade will also Vernon Regional Transit Routes 2 and 4, and changes to the routes and schedules will be made available at the B.C. Transit website.

The city noted east-west access of 48th and 30th Avenues will be maintained during the parade, but urged motorists to slow down, follow traffic control measures, and plan to use alternative routes to avoid the parade route and ensure the safety of the parade participants and spectators.
