Vernon North Okanagan RCMP are asking the public for help identifying a man believed to be involved in an assault.

Mounties said they were investigating an assault that took place on a B.C. Transit bus near the intersection of 34th St. and 17th Ave. in Vernon on December 27, 2024.

Police said the incident happened at around 9:15 p.m. when a passenger allegedly rushed and assaulted the driver while the bus was in motion. The driver was able to fend off the attack and safely stop the bus, and the suspect then got off and left on foot.

Video surveillance from the bus captured footage of the attack, and the RCMP released stills in the hopes the public would help identify the suspect.
