Police asking for dashcam footage after vehicle shot at

Feb 5, 2025 | 9:39 AM

Police are asking the public for information on a suspicious incident that happened Monday evening.

Between 8:15 p.m. and 8:25 p.m. on Feb. 3, a silver SUV was travelling northbound on Highway 97A in Spallumcheen when the driver noticed a dark coloured SUV following the same direction.

The occupants of the silver SUV described hearing a large bang and believe something was thrown at their vehicle. After pulling over, the driver of the dark coloured SUV pulled up, and exchanged words with the driver. A second vehicle pulled in behind the silver SUV, but did not interact with either vehicle.

After reaching their final destination, the driver of the silver SUV parked and inspected the damage to their car. They noticed a single hole in the rear driver’s side which police believe was from a bullet.

Members of the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP continue their investigation of the incident and are asking the driver of the second vehicle that pulled in behind the silver SUV to contact police. Police are also interested in obtaining any dashcam footage from any vehicle travelling in either direction at the time of the incident, particularly if it’s near Greenhow Road.

If you have any information, you are urged to contact Vernon North Okanagan RCMP’s non-emergency line at the Armstrong office (250)-546-3028. The file number is 2025-548.

To remain anonymous, you can also contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
