B.C. pausing tariff countermeasures after 30-day U.S. reprieve
Feb 4, 2025 | 10:35 AM
B-C is pausing its response to threatened tariffs by the United States after a 30-day reprieve was negotiated.
But Premier David Eby says they will keep planning to shift the provincial trade relationship away from U-S with the tariff threat hanging over their heads.
Eby says the province won’t abandon its preparation for tariff measures, and will be prepared if there is a Tweet coming from Trump tomorrow to put the tariffs back on.
Eby says even as the tariffs are paused, harm has already been done to the Canadian economy and to the relationship between the two countries.
