B.C. NDP out-fundraised other parties in B.C. election year

The B.C. NDP received more financial support than its rival leading up to the 2024 Provincial Election.

Elections B.C. said the NDP contributions during between January 1 and October 19, 2024, totaled $7,657,864.19.

Comparatively, the Conservative Party of B.C. raised $6,130,761.27 during that period.

However, the Conservative Party claimed $2,537,137.37 for election expense reimbursement, while the NDP claimed $2,219,361.32.

Elections B.C. stated the B.C. Green Party did not file its contributions report by the deadline, nor did seven candidates and four third party sponsors. Sherry Roy, who ran as an Independent in the Salmon Arm-Shuswap riding, was the only local candidate to not file their expenses in time.

Additionally, extensions to the filing deadline was granted to six candidates, including Kristina Loewen, the Conservative candidate for Kelowna Centre.

Those who were granted extensions will have to file financial statements by January 30, and those who missed the deadline will have to pay their fee and submit their statements by February 18, as well as pay a $500 fee.
