Cricket pitch proposed for Coldstream, will be discussed further
An idea to establish a cricket pitch in the District of Coldstream will be discussed further at a future meeting.
The North Okanagan Cricket Club submitted a delegation to Coldstream Council, requesting a pitch be built so the sport can be played locally.
The club’s proposal said the nearest pitch is located 45 minutes away in Kelowna, and said the field is booked throughout the summer so it’s difficult to secure times to practice and play games.
The club said having a pitch in Coldstream will benefit the more than 130 cricketers in Vernon and more than 400 players in the North Okanagan, adding it would also increase livability and community vibrancy, would promote health through sport, and generate income through bookings and tourism as it’s one of the fastest growing sports in Canada.
