Warming bus ready to roll out if the temperature drops

The local mobile warming station is ready to roll out if the mercury continues to drop.

Turning Points Collaborative Society said it’s ready to dispatch its Warming Bus if the overnight temperature falls to or past the -10 degree mark.

The bus can hold 49 people and will operate from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. on nights when the temperature hits that threshold so people experiencing homelessness can get out of the cold.

Along with offering people a place to stay warm, the bus will be stocked with items such as hand and feet warmers, gloves and toques, along with snacks and hot drinks, that riders can access.

The Warming Bus is provided by A1 and operated by Turning Points, and is supported by funding from B.C. Housing.

The bus had not been dispatched yet this winter.

Turning Points adds anyone in need of use of the Warming Bus, or who knows someone in distress and needs to access the mobile warming station, can call 250-241-0454 to have it come by their location.
