Fire Inside the School

Fire sparked at Seaton Secondary over the holiday break

Vernon Fire Rescue Services is investigating after a fire started inside what should have been an empty school.

VFRS responded to a general alarm at Seaton Secondary School on 41st Avenue at approximately 6:20 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28.

Firefighters arrived on the scene and entered the school where they discovered a fire producing heavy smoke in a west wing hallway.

Crews contained the fire to the area where it started, and the sprinkler system was activated to help prevent any further spread.

The area where the fire occurred sustained water and smoke damage.
