A Sicamous resident faces charges related to a drug and firearm trafficking case.

Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) approved charges against Jesse Pat Lyle on Friday, Dec. 27.

The charges relate to a case in April of 2024 where Boder Services Officers intercepted and seized three prohibited devices in courier package addressed to Lyle, who has a lifetime firearm prohibition.

After intercepting the package at Vancouver International Airport, the CBSA Pacific Region Criminal Investigations Section launched an investigation, leading to investigators and local RCMP executing search warrants on Lyle’s vehicle and boat in June.

During those searches, law enforcement seized a firearm with the serial number removed, two firearm magazines, one prohibited spring-loaded baton, one prohibited stun gun, and large quantities of illegal drugs.

The CBSA laid charges against Lyle in November that included possession of a restricted firearm with readily available ammunition; possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number; possession of a firearm in contravention of a prohibition order; possession of a prohibited weapon, and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Lyle was arrested by the RCMP and is scheduled to appear at Salmon Arm Law Courts on Jan. 7, 2025.

“The Canada Border Services Agency works hard to intercept undeclared firearms and illegal drugs and investigates those who break Canada’s laws,” Nina Patel, Regional Director General of Canada Border Services Agency’s Pacific Region.

“The efforts of our officers and investigators, with support from the RCMP, have removed dangerous firearms and drugs from this community.”
