Vernon Winter Carnival warns of impersonator attempting to defraud vendors

The Vernon Winter Carnival Society is warning the public about a person claiming to be from the organization and trying to defraud people.

In a Facebook post, the Winter Carnival said it heard of a person approaching vendors and food trucks claiming to be part of the organization.

The impersonator asked business owners to fill out a Google form and send $120 per day to register as a food truck or vendor for all 10 days of the Carnival.

The Society said that individual is not affiliated with the organization, adding any communication with vendors or food trucks will come via the Winter Carnival email, not through an in-person visit.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP did not immediately respond to a question of if they were aware of the fraud attempts and were investigating the case.
