Vernon RCMP targeting impaired drivers as part of a national operation
Local police will be running operations to keep the streets safe from impaired drivers.
December is National Impaired Driving Enforcement Month, and Saturday, Dec. 7, is National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day, so Vernon North Okanagan RCMP and B.C. Highway Patrol in Falkland will be running CounterAttack programs to remove impaired drivers from the roads.
Throughout the operation, police will increase enforcement activities such as check-stops, mandatory alcohol screenings, field sobriety tests, and the use of Drug Recognition Experts to target impaired drivers.
Police urge people do their part to keep the roads safe by not getting behind the wheel when under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
