Vernon’s outdoor skating rink opens Sunday

Nov 28, 2024 | 11:40 AM

The outdoor ice rink in Vernon will open to the public on December 1st.

The City of Vernon said the Centennial Outdoor Rink will open for the season Sunday.

Public skating and shinny will be free for all users.

The rink uses a refrigeration system to maintain the ice but hours of operation will still be dependent on weather conditions. It will also be closed in alignment with holiday schedules.

Helmets are strongly recommended for all skaters, and are mandatory for skaters 10 years old or younger and all shinny players.

Shinny players under the age of 18 will need to have a parent or guardian to sign a waiver, which can be accessed at the Vernon Recreation Services website or at the front desk of the Vernon Recreation Centre.
