New Chair, Vice Chair elected to SD22 Board of Education

The Greater Vernon school district has new leaders at the helm.

Mark Olsen stepped down as School District 22’s Chair of the Board of Education at the regular meeting Wednesday, Nov. 13.

Following a vote, Kelli Sulivan was elected as the new Board Chair.

Lori Mindnich was also elected as Vice Chair.

Sullivan, a Research Facilitator with UBC Okanagan, has been a trustee since 2022, with SD22 stating she actively contributed to numerous committee and initiatives.

“I am honoured to be elected as Board Chair and look forward to working collaboratively with my fellow trustees, staff, and the community to continue advancing the educational opportunities for our students,” Sullivan stated.

“Together, we can achieve great things and ensure that every student in our district has the support and resources they need to succeed.”

Sullivan extended her gratitude to Olsen, thanking him for “his dedicated service and leadership as Board Chair over the past year.”

Mindnich also brings many years of experience as an elected representative to her new role with the Bord of Education.

Mindnich has serves as an SD22 trustee for six years, and prior to that spent 16 years as a councillor for the Villarge of Lumby.

“I am thrilled to take on the role of Board Vice Chair and to work alongside Kelli Sullivan and the rest of the Board,” Mindnich said.

“I am committed to supporting our district’s mission and ensuring that we provide the best possible education for our students. I look forward to contributing to the continued success of School District 22.”
