Traffic backed up on Highway 97 following suspected crash north of Vernon

Traffic was slow moving heading out of Vernon following an incident on the Highway Thursday afternoon.

Drive B.C. reported that a vehicle collision occurred near the weigh scale north of town around 4:40 p.m.

Traffic was reduced to a single lane, and reports to Vernon Matters stated northbound traffic was backed up to around the Nicholas Alexander Home and Garden Centre off Stickle Road.

Dispatch reports stated power lines were down at the scene, but B.C. Hydro had not reported any outages as of time of publication.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP and BX Swan Lake Fire Rescue did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Vernon Matters.
