Conservative keep hold of Kelowna Centre, NDP earn majority government

The Conservative Party of B.C. candidate has been confirmed the winner of the Kelowna Centre provincial riding.

Elections B.C. completed the judicial recount of the riding Friday, Nov. 8, and confirmed that Kristina Loewen was the winner with 11,033 votes.

She narrowly beat the B.C. NDP candidate, Loyal Woolridge, who earned 10,993 votes.

Unaffiliated candidate Michael Humer received 2,613 votes and Bryce Tippe of the B.C. Green Party received 1,111 in the provincial election.

Meanwhile, the B.C. NDP have earned their majority government.

The judicial recount in Surrey-Guildford found that Garry Begg of the NDP won the seat with 8,947 votes, just ahead of Conservative Honveer Sighn Randhawa, who earned 8,925 votes.

B.C. Green Party candidate, Manjeet Singh Shota, finished third in the riding with 824 votes, followed by Independent Kabir Qurban with 370 votes.

The judicial recounts in Kelowna Centre and Surrey-Guildford were ordered because the difference between top two candidates was ledd than 1/500th of the total ballots considered.

The judicial recount in Prince George-Mackenzie was also completed, and the Conservative candidtae, Kiel Gibbens, was confirmed the winner with 11,310 votes. Shar McCrory of the NDP came second with 5,242 votes, followed by B.C. Green Party’s James Steidle with 1,577 votes, and the Unaffiliated candidate, Rachael Weber, who earned 435 votes.

The judicial recount in prince George-Mackenzie was ordered after Elections B.C. discovered that one ballot box in the riding was not counted.
