Improving infrastructure

KLO bridge public info session Thursday

Sep 26, 2024 | 9:35 AM

There’s a meeting Thursday afternoon, Sept. 26, for anyone who would like more info on the KLO Bridge replacement and roundabout plan at Spiers Road.

Project staff will be there to answer questions on the design, bridge details and 2025 construction overview for commuters and Mission Creek Greenway users.

The existing bridge was built in 1949 and needs to be replaced as it is nearing the end of its service life and it’s low-grade position presents a flooding risk.

The bridge replacement will bring essential benefits including improved sight lines for drivers, traffic calming and increased active transportation options. This will create safer routes for those who walk, bike, roll and use assisted mobility devices (e.g. wheelchairs).

Additionally, the new bridge will be 3 metres higher, offering flood protection benefits and helping to safeguard the neighbourhood from risks associated with climate change.

The public info session Thursday is from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.at Reid Hall in Benvoulin Heritage Park.
