The Shepherd’s Home Hardware Building Centre in Armstrong earned two big awards from the company.

Home Hardware Store Limited recognized 18 of its stores from across Canada with Proud of My Home Achievement Awards, part of the company’s annual Homecoming buying event and recognition ceremony, and the store in Armstrong earned the top prize with the Walter J. Hachborn Store of the Year Award.

The award was presented to Dealer-Owners Kyle and Brett Melvin for their work upholding the company’s values of service and dependability, and its high standards in retailing, merchandising, staff performance, and overall quality and service.

Shepherd’s Home Hardware also earned the Best Home Hardware Building Centre – Western Region award as part of the ceremony.

“We are honoured to be recognized with these awards as our store prepares to celebrate a century in the Armstrong community next year,” said Kyle Melvin.

“Brett and I are the second generation of Melvins to own and operate Shepherd’s Home Hardware Building Centre and are proud of our place in the store’s history. We share this recognition with our parents, Sandy and Dale Melvin, who helped lay the groundwork for the business to become what it is today.”

Kevin Macnab, President and CEO, Home Hardware Stores Limited, noted Shepherd’s “truly embodies what [the award] stands for,” adding the team in Armstrong treat the customers like family, allowing them to get to know people in the community “so they can provide incomparable customer service.”

Shepherd’s Home Hardware was the only store in British Columbia to be recognized with an award this year.
