123rd IPE only a few days away

Aug 24, 2024 | 6:00 AM

The annual agriculture show, rodeo and midway goes in just a few days.

The 123rd Interior Provincial Exhibition (IPE) and Stampede will go in Armstrong Wednesday, August 28, to Sunday, August 1.

The IPE will be similar to past years, though there will be some new additions.

“Agriculture wise, we’ve expanded our meet and greets with different animals, they’re all on our schedlue; you’ll have to try your knowledge at our Agriculture Farm Based Game Show,” Heather King, General manager of the IPE and Stampede.

“We’ve got a reptile show appearing this year with our agriculture, so some snakes and creepy crawlies on display.”

There will be new musical acts, demonstrations by stock dogs and the Kelowna Disc Dog Club, and a new PBR (Professional Bull Riding) After-Party as well.

“So people who don’t want our event to end, it can go into the wee hours of Sunday and people can party and two step to their hearts desire.”

King noted the rodeo finals Saturday night had already sold out, but added tickets were available for the other events, including the PBR event Sunday and a new rodeo contest Wednesday morning.

“It’s called Slack, where a surplus of contests that couldn’t make it into our evening performances will be performing Wednesday morning starting at 9 a.m.,” King explained.

The organizer noted the weather forecast ahead of the IPE was promising, though noted a bit of rain is welcome to help keep down the dust.
