RCMP investigating suspicious death in Vernon

A suspicious death in Vernon’s Bella Vista neighbourhood is under investigation.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP said a member of the public discovered the body near Okanagan Hills Blvd. around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20.

“We’re in the very early stages of our investigation at this time, but the death has been deemed suspicious and is being investigated as a homicide,” Constable Chris Terleski, Media Relations Officer for the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP, stated.

“Our Serious Crimes Unit has taken conduct of the investigation and is asking for the public’s help.”

Police ask that anyone who may have seen a person or a vehicle stopped at the hairpin turn on Okanagan Hills Blvd. between Monday morning and 8 a.m. Tuesday, has dashcam footage from the area between that time, or witnessed any suspicious activity in the area, contact the RCMP at 250-545-7171 and quoting file #2024-14152.

The RCMP said the investigation was ongoing and did not provide details on the case, though did state that updates would be released once more information is known.
