Armstrong Farmers’ Market relocating this weekend to accommodate wildfire operations

Aug 9, 2024 | 6:00 AM

The Armstrong Farmers’ Market will be set up in a new location this weekend.

Henk Denoudsten, President of the Farmers’ Market, told Vernon Matters that the produce and artisanal vendors would be set up at the Highland Park Elementary school play field Saturday, August 10.

Denoudsten said the market was being moved so that the IPE grounds could be freed up for evacuees and any livestock that need to be relocated due to the nearby Hullcar Mountain wildfire.

The Township of Spallumcheen did state Thursday that the Hassen Arena in Armstrong was being used as its Emergency Reception Centre, though it was not confirmed if it would serve the same purpose over the weekend.
