Wildfire near Echo Lake no longer posing a threat to nearby properties

Jul 24, 2024 | 12:25 PM

The Regional District of North Okanagan has lifted the Evacuation Alert associated with the Bonneau Creek wildfire.

The RDNO had put the Alert in place for 24 properties on Creighton Valley Road, as well as the DVM Bible Camp Friday, July 19, as the Bonneau Creek wildfire was burning in the area near Echo Lake, east of Lumby.

The wildfire was considered Under Control as of Monday, July 22, and was removed from the B.C. Wildfire Service map Wednesday.

The RDNO kept the alert in place after the fire was downgraded in case it flared up again, but the regional district decided to lift it as of 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The Evacuation Order and Alert for the Sugar Lake area remained in place Wednesday morning.

The RDNO advised residents and visitors to be careful as the region and the entire province is facing wildfire threats, and encourages people be aware of weather conditions and active wildfire situations.
