Fire at vacant building injures one person

One person was taken to hospital in serious condition for treatment of burns after a fire broke out at an empty building at Benvoulin and Casorso in Kelowna over the noon hour on Monday.

A lack of hydrants in the area meant water tenders had to be brought in and fire crews patrolled the surrounding area to make sure embers didn’t start anything in nearby dry grass.

The structure was destroyed.
