Vernon RCMP had a relatively quiet long weekend

The RCMP in Kelowna and Vernon had much different experiences over the Canada Day long weekend.

Kelowna RCMP reported 170 calls for service on July 1st and into the following day, but that wasn’t the case a little further north on Highway 97.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP told Vernon Matters that police maintained a presence at the DND Fields where Funtastic was being held to ensure there were no thefts from vehicles or open alcohol use.

Mounties also conducted roving patrols and enhanced traffic work on the roadways.

Though the police presence was increased, media relations officer, Cpl. Tania Finn, told Vernon Matters there were “only a few disturbances,” and could not say if any arrests were made over the long weekend.
