Power restored after two hour outage

UPDATE 3:25 p.m.

Power has been restored to over 3,600 B.C. Hydro customers in Vernon.

Power went down for the downtown core, south Vernon and Bella Vista areas at around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, but was restored within about two hours.

The utility provider did not disclose what caused the outage.

UPDATE 2:45 p.m.

A crew has arrived at the scene of the power outage affecting over 3,600 customers in Vernon.

As of the latest update, B.C. Hydro had not identified the cause of the outage, or provided an estimated time for when power would be restored.

A power outage is affecting thousands of Vernon residents.

B.C. Hydro reported a power outage affecting 3,648 customers at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 26.

The outage expands east of the downtown core to the Bella Vista areas overlooking Okanagan Lake.

The cause of the outage was unknown at last update at 1:49 p.m., but it has been very windy so it could be a downed power line.

B.C. Hydro had assigned a crew to the outage and are expected to be a he scene by 2:50 p.m.,though it was not known how long it would take to restore power to the area.
