Nominees for Tim Hortons North Okanagan sports awards announced

The cream of the crop when it comes to North Okanagan athletes and teams will be recognized when the Tim Hortons North Okanagan Sports Awards are handed out next week in Vernon.

The public is invited to the presentation of athlete of the year, team of the year and leadership in sports at a ceremony in front of Vernon City Hall on Wednesday, June 19, at 5:30 p.m.

The nominees for the awards were announced on Thursday, June 13.

“We had a lot of great candidates this year for all categories,” Ann Holmes, president of the awards committee, said. “The top athlete category was a particularly tough one for the selection committee.”

The winners are chosen by a group of local sporting reps and media members following public submissions.
