UPDATE: Pedestrian not hit by vehicle, fell on road: RCMP

Reports of a person struck by a vehicle in Vernon actually involved the pedestrian falling on the road.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP clarified with Vernon Matters Monday, June 10, that officers responded to a call of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the intersection of 29th St. and 48th Ave. at approximately 12:45 p.m. Friday, Jun 7.

However, police said a collision did not occur, and that the pedestrian instead fell while crossing the road.

The RCMP said the person was not injured in the fall.

B.C. Emergency Health Services had initially told Vernon Matters that paramedics attended the scene and transported the person to hospital.

A person was taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Vernon.

B.C. Emergency Health Services confirmed paramedics responded a report of a pedestrian being struck near the intersection of 29th St. and 48th Ave. at approximately 12:40 p.m. Friday, June 7.

“Two ambulances with primary care paramedics and an advanced care paramedic response unit attended the scene,” Paramedic Public Information Officer, Brian Twaites, said in an email to Vernon Matters.

“Paramedics provided emergency medical care and transported one patient to hospital.”

The condition of the patient was not disclosed.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP had not responded to Vernon Matters requested for information on the incident.
