WHL home openers announced for 2024-25 season, Rockets to host Winterhawks

The home opening dates for all 22 teams in the Western Hockey League have been announced for the 2024-25 regular season.

The Kelowna Rockets will open against the Portland Winterhawks at Prospera Place on Saturday, September 21.

It will be the third consecutive season the teams will meet in Kelowna to open the Rockets regular season.

One night before that, the Kamloops Blazers will host the Winterhawks for their season opener at Sandman Centre.

Landon DuPont – the WHL’s first exceptional status defenceman – is expected to make his regular season debut September 21, when the Everett Silvertips host the Vancouver Giants at Angel of the Winds Arena.

The defending B.C. Division champion Prince George Cougars play their first game September 20 when the Spokane Chiefs visit the CN Centre.

The defending WHL champion Moose Jaw Warriors will start the new season on the road, heading to Brandon for the Wheat Kings home opener September 20.

The 2024 WHL preseason schedule and complete 748-game WHL regular season schedule for 2024-25 will be announced the week of June 24.
