Several structures, vehicles and boats were damaged in a hedge fire that spread in Kelowna.

The fire broke out around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of Barkley Road.

Crews found a large hedge on fire at the rear of a residence with multiple exposures to vehicles and structures.

The incident was upgraded to a structure fire and then to a second alarm.

Firefighters attacked the blaze from the front and rear and were able to quickly knock it down and stop the spread.

Four structures, one vehicle, five recreational vehicles and two boats were damaged.

There were no injuries to the public or firefighters.

“The cause of the fire is accidental, due to an outdoor electrical issue,” Captain Scott Clarke said.

Twenty-one fire personnel responded to the incident.
