The Facebook page Justice for Tatjana posted this from the event:

“Thank you very much to everyone who came out to the vigil for Tatjana. It was well attended by Tatjana’s family, friends, community leaders, politicians, colleagues, domestic abuse survivors, concerned community members, her children’s friends and the media.

Thank you to the ambulance attendants who attended in uniform, and to the RCMP for patrolling and maintaining safety for the gathering. Thank you sincerely for your service.

To all of you who helped bring the vigil together, from children to our elders, you are too numerous to name but you know who you are. Thank you so very much for all you did to bring this evening of remembrance for Tatjana together. I think we all needed this.”

B.C.’s opposition leader Kevin Falcon of BC United was among those on hand at the invite of Lumby Mayor Kevin Acton.

Original story

A vigil will be held in Lumby Friday night (April 26) to remember Tatjana Stefanski.

Stefanski’s body was found on the Mabel Lake Forest Service Road April 14, one day after she was allegedly abducted by her ex-husband near Lavington.

The RCMP say criminality was suspected in the 44-year-old’s death and the Southeast District Major Crime Unit is in charge of the investigation.

A man believed to be involved in the death was arrested in the general vicinity of where the body was found, but no charges have been laid to this point.

No updates on the investigation have been issued by police since April 17.

A Facebook posting invites friends, family and others to “come together in honor of Tatjana’s peaceful, calm nature to honor a Lumby woman well loved.”

The color teal blue is recommended as that was Tatjana’s favorite color.

Lanterns will be made at the Lumby Christian Church from 3 to 6 p.m. before the vigil. Supplies are provided and donations are welcome.

The peaceful vigil starts at 7 p.m. at Lumby’s Oval Park near the playground.

Organizers say RCMP have said they will be visibly present as per Lumby Mayor Kevin Acton’s request.

Organizers say BC United Leader Kevin Falcon could be at the event.
