Snow flurries may fall over Coquihalla, Highway 3

Some area highways may see some light snowfall on Monday.

Environment Canada issued special weather statements for the Coquihalla and Highway 3 on May 6, stating there was a potential for flurries over high elevation mountain passes.

“A Pacific frontal system will move across B.C. today (Monday),” the weather agency stated.

“Meanwhile, snow levels will remain at or below mountain pass levels in southern B.C. today. Snowfall accumulations are possible but will vary depending on the location.”

The weather statements were issued for the Coquihalla from Hope to Merritt, on Highway 3’s Allison Pass from Hope to Princeton, and on Highway 3 from the Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass.

Environment Canada reminds motorists that weather can change quickly in the mountains and advises people adjust their driving to account for potentially hazardous conditions.
