A motorcycle crash in Kelowna earlier this week is under investigation by B.C.’s police watchdog.

The Independent Investigations Office is reviewing police actions in an incident where a man suffered serious injuries on Monday, April 15.

At around 5:30 p.m. that day, RCMP say a motorcycle passed an unmarked police vehicle on Highway 97 in Kelowna.

The officer activated their emergency equipment and attempted to stop the bike due to the driving behavior, but the motorcycle reportedly kept going.

Shortly after, the bike reportedly lost control and crashed on the off-ramp from Highway 97 to University Way.

The male bike operator was transported to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Kelowna RCMP are conducting a concurrent investigation into the man’s driving behavior.
