Charges against Vernon fire suspect up to Crown counsel

RCMP have identified a suspect in a major fire in downtown Vernon last summer.

The Okanagan Eatery restaurant and several other businesses were destroyed in an overnight fire in the 2800 block of 30th Street on July 4, 2023.

Constable Chris Terleski told Vernon Matters a suspect was identified during their investigation, and the file has been forwarded to the BC Prosecution Service for consideration of charges.

Terleski would not say what charges RCMP are recommending in the case.
