Fire put out behind school

Vernon Fire Rescue responded to a grass fire in a field behind Fulton Secondary Tuesday afternoon.

The small blaze in the 2300 block of Fulton Road around 2:15 p.m. burned an area of about 10 x 10 feet near BX Creek.

“With the assistance of a resident equipped with a fire extinguisher, crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire. No structures were at risk and no injuries were reported,” Josh Winquist, communications officer with the City of Vernon told Vernon Matters.

The city did not provide any details about the cause of the fire.
