A Kelowna resident was in disbelief when his $3 wager led to him winning over $1.4 million from a slot machine.

Greg Moroso won the jackpot playing the Powerbucks Wheel of Fortune Lucky Coins game March 22 at Chances Casino in Kelowna.

He picked up his cheque for $1,485,994 from the BC Lottery Corporation on Friday.

Moroso initially played the game only because he liked the look of the nearby chair.

“Quite frankly, I just wanted to sit down in a nice, comfortable chair for a little bit, so the win was a big plus,” Moroso remarked.

As for his reaction?

“I said, ‘Holy cow, that’s not possible.’”

The game is one of two Powerbucks™-linked slot machines in Chances Casino Kelowna offering players the chance to trigger bonuses and win cash or even the progressive jackpot, which starts at $1 million and grows as players place bets across participating B.C. and Canadian casinos.

Moroso’s plans for the windfall include retiring early, and enjoying some items on his bucket list such as seeing The Eagles live in concert at The Sphere in Las Vegas this fall and buying an RV to travel across Canada.

“This win takes away any worries and will provide a comfortable retirement where I can focus on family,” Moroso said.
