The operations of Vernon-based Tolko Industries in the Okanagan Shuswap Natural Resource District have passed an audit.

The Forest Practices Board reviewed the company’s timber license operations near Revelstoke in October to evaluate activities such as planning, timber harvesting, road and bridge construction and maintenance, silviculture, and wildfire protection.

“Our audit found that Tolko complied with all requirements of the Forest and Range Practices Act and the Wildfire Act,” Keith Atkinson, chair of the Forest Practices Board, said.

“We are pleased to see the efforts made by Tolko to carry out their operations consistent with provincial regulations and sound forest practices.”

The audit by B.C.’s independent watchdog for forest and range practices found that Tolko’s forest-management system included process and procedures that “adequately address legal requirements and regulatory standards.”
