Greg McCune will represent the BC United party in the next provincial election this fall.

McCune won the nomination for the Salmon Arm-Shuswap riding over two other candidates, Linda Hawes of Salmon Arm and Allysa Hopkins of Mara on Saturday after a vote by party members in Salmon Arm.

Details of the vote were not released by the party.

McCune is a former two-term mayor of Enderby and the owner of Sutherland’s Bakery in Enderby.

He will take over from three-term Shuswap BC United MLA Greg Kyllo who is not seeking re-election.

The following bio of Greg McCune was provided by BC United:

Greg McCune was one-year-old when his family moved to Enderby where they acquired Sutherland’s Bakery. Greg went on to manage the bustling family business where he discovered a knack for entrepreneurship.

Greg successfully oversaw various ventures across the region. However, his true calling awaited him back in Enderby, where he returned to steward the original bakery.

Over the span of 48 years, Greg immersed himself in the fabric of small-town life, raising a family—a son and two daughters—and cherishing the simplicity and warmth of community interactions. It was these daily connections, be it at the bakery, schools, or local sports events, that fueled his passion for public service.

Driven by a desire to make a difference, Greg embarked on a distinguished career in municipal governance, serving four terms as a councillor before assuming the mantle of Mayor for two successive terms. As Mayor of the City of Enderby, he spearheaded transformative initiatives aimed at fostering growth and enhancing affordability, leaving an indelible mark on the community he holds dear.

For Greg, the true essence of his tenure lies not in accolades, but in the lives touched and dreams realized. Whether collaborating with volunteers, businesses, or fellow citizens, his greatest joy remains in empowering others to reach their aspirations, embodying the spirit of service that defines his legacy.
