Chipping Service

Christmas tree disposal available

Dec 27, 2023 | 5:00 AM

The City of Vernon is providing residents with a free Christmas tree disposal service.

Between December 25 and January 18, people are be able to drop off their trees at the Kin Race Track Park lands, west of Kal Tire Place, free of charge.

The trees will be chipped and used for compost material, so people dropping them off are reminded to remove all lights and ornaments.

Other yard waste, commercial trees, artificial trees, trees with flocking, tinsel or spray foam, and general garbage or waste will not be accepted at the site.

Christmas trees will not be picked up with residential waste and will not be accepted in curbside organics or carts or community organics bins.

People who don’t use the chipping service can dispose of their Christmas trees at the Greater Vernon Diversion and Disposal Facility at 120 Birnie Road.
