UPDATE: Vehicle involved in hit and run identified

RCMP say they have located a vehicle that was allegedly involved in the hit and run of a female pedestrian in Salmon Arm.

The woman was struck while walking on 5th Avenue SW on Dec. 8 around 8 p.m.

The victim, who is in her 40’s, was transported to hospital with significant non-life threatening injuries.

Police released photos of the suspect vehicle a couple of days after the incident, hoping it would generate tips.

“Salmon Arm RCMP have seized the suspect vehicle, and spoken with the registered owner. This investigation remains under further investigation and no further information will be released,” Const. Andrew Hodges, media relations officer, said on Wednesday, Dec 20.

RCMP is thanking the media and the public for their assistance.

RCMP have released new photos of a suspect vehicle involved in hit and run of a woman in Salmon Arm.

On Friday, Dec. 8, at 7:59 p.m., RCMP responded to a pedestrian that was hit by a vehicle. The vehicle was travelling westbound on 5th Ave SW, and struck the victim at 3 St SW.

The victim, a woman in her 40’s, was transported to hospital by ambulance with significant non-life threatening injuries.

Salmon Arm RCMP have obtained new footage with a clearer picture of the suspect vehicle, which is shown below.

“RCMP are actively investigating this incident and are requesting the driver to contact the Salmon Arm RCMP,” Const. Andrew Hodges of Salmon Arm RCMP said.

Anyone who can identify the suspect vehicle, or has video footage of the incident or the suspect vehicle is asked to contact Salmon Arm RCMP at 250-832-6044 and reference file 2023-7627.

Police look for vehicle involved in hit and run of woman

RCMP are looking for witnesses and dash camera footage after a woman was struck by a vehicle in Salmon Arm.

On Friday, Dec. 8, at 8 p.m., police responded to a pedestrian that was hit by a vehicle.

“The vehicle was travelling westbound on 5th Ave SW, and struck the victim at 3 St SW. The victim, a woman in her 40’s, was transported to hospital by ambulance with significant non-life threatening injuries,” Const. Andrew Hodges, media Relations officer, said.

Video surveillance shows the incident occurred between 7:49 p.m. and 7:52 p.m. on 5th Ave SW. The suspect vehicle did not appear to slow down after the collision. The vehicle apparently turned south onto 5 St SW after hitting the woman.

“The vehicle was described as a light coloured four door car or station wagon. Police are actively seeking any witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage, that may have seen the described vehicle with front end damage in that area around 7:52 p.m. on December 8,” said Constable Andrew Hodges, Salmon Arm RCMP spokesperson. “Police are canvassing nearby businesses for further video evidence, but are hopeful someone in the area witnessed or captured video of the suspect vehicle to help further this investigation.”
